Homes Flying Like Hotcakes in Wicker Park

Wicker Park is widely considered a hip neighborhood with a diverse mix of restaurants, bars, shops and residents. And, according to Redfin, it has one of the hotter housing markets in the city.

Redfin’s Rachel Musiker recently told UrbanTurf that the Sunday following our feature on a unit at 1243 North Wolcott Avenue, an open house drew 30 people and resulted in three offers, one of which the sellers accepted.

The quick pace of this sale prompted Redfin to analyze the Wicker Park housing market.

“Inventory is way down,” Musiker said of the neighborhood. “At the end of last month, the number of condos listed for sale was down more than 20 percent from where it was a year ago. This means that the condos that are on the market are moving quickly.”

Several agents in the Wicker Park area added that the neighborhood’s popularity is also growing because people realize that they can get a more reasonably priced home here than they would in places like Lake View, Lincoln Park, and the Gold Coast.
