View from the El: Chicago Real Estate by the Grand Blue Line Stop

  • June 29, 2011

by Jacqueline Zenn

In this week’s View from the El, UrbanTurf checks out real estate around the Grand Blue Line stop in the River West neighborhood just across the Chicago River from the Loop. This area used to be full of industrial warehouses and is now home to a number of rehabbed loft buildings; indeed, many of the nearby listings have the classic loft characteristics of exposed brick and ductwork, high ceilings, and open floor plans. In addition to the area’s proximity to the downtown business districts, the bars, clubs, and restaurants of the West Loop and Fulton River District are also within walking distance, and so is the East Bank Club, the preferred health club of Chicago’s elite (Oprah, Michael Jordan, President Obama, and many of Chicago’s local politicians are members).
