When UrbanTurf last covered the rather tumultuous story of the Mondial building in the River West, current owner Waterton Residential was in the process of converting the project from condos to rentals. Waterton purchased the 124 remaining units in April, hoping the size and condo-quality finishes of the units would help differentiate the Mondial apartments in the crowded downtown luxury rental market.

Originally planned as condos, this building was switched to rentals once, then back to condos, and now the units are again listed as rentals, ranging in price from $1,453 per month for a studio to a whopping $10,000 for a three bedroom with a private outdoor terrace and deck.

The property’s River West location offers views of the downtown skyline, and the apartments have 12-foot ceilings, in-unit laundry, full Kitchen-Aid appliance packages, built-in shelving systems in the closets, floor-to-ceiling windows, and are pre-wired for high speed internet.

Indoor parking is available as well as a community room and sundeck for residents, and the CTA Blue line is just two blocks away. The River West area is home to plenty of bars, lounges, clubs, and restaurants, and the popular and prestigious East Bank Club is about a 15-minute walk.
