On your way to a concert at Ravinia this coming summer, there will be a very fitting place for you to stop off for a cup of tea.

The Tribune is reporting that Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins’ fame is opening a French-meets-Chinese-style tea house where the vacant Ravinia Station post office sits in Highland Park (map).

Corgan, a Highland Park resident, is partnering with Sharon Mackin-Norberg, who currently operates the Ravinia Wine Shop down the street, on the endeavor.

From the Trib:

Mackin-Norberg said the goal is to transport patrons to another time and place where they can enjoy more than 30 types of teas from around the world while snacking on select pastries. The tea house will also provide coffee, vegan food, and musical performances on an acoustic stage.

The transformation of the 1,500 square-foot post office into a tea house is already underway and it is expected to open in the spring. Corgan will be charged with the music selection, while Mackin-Norberg will run the day-to-day operations.
