Deal of the Week: Three-Bedroom Historic Bungalow in West Ridge

Dining room at 6548 North Fairfield Ave.
For this installment of Deal of the Week, we head into West Ridge to take a closer look at a three-bedroom, two-bath bungalow that is significantly discounted compared to what it sold for less than three years ago (unlike a number of properties we write about in this feature, which are generally selling for far less than what they sold for during the boom in 2005 or 2006).
Built in 1920, the home has been restored carefully in order to maintain aspects including a built-in, wooden hutch inside the kitchen, the hardwood floors, and the brick, wood-burning fireplace in the living room. While its authentic aspects have remained intact, the pad also has an updated kitchen, a master bedroom that has a walk-in closet and master bath, as well as an unfinished basement that has the potential to be a rec room or man cave.

Living room
Its price ($43,600 less than what it sold for in 2009) and interior offset the fact that the home does not have central air or heat and is a decent distance from the expressway and trains.
